London is famous for its charming streets, colorful houses, and stunning gardens… and let’s not forget its incredible parks! One gem you definitely don’t want to miss is Isabella Plantation, tucked away in the heart of Richmond Park. I first discovered it two years ago with my family, and we’ve been returning regularly ever since to soak in its beauty.
Today, DOYOUSPEAKLONDON shares 3 reasons why Isabella Plantation should be on your must-visit list!
Isabella Plantation: a historic plantation
The Isabella Plantation is tucked away in a beautiful Victorian woodland, first planted in the 1830s. It opened to the public in the 1950s, and since then, it’s been a favourite spot for nature lovers.
I can’t help but think it’s one of the most luxurious, colorful, and exotic gardens I have ever seen. Wherever you look, you feel overwhelmed by beauty.
Located in the heart of Richmond Park, Isabella Plantation is a hidden gem. Flower lovers can wander among giant trees, while families enjoy the peaceful, colorful surroundings – like a natural playground!
A must-see botanic garden
The Isabella Plantation is renowned for its azaleas, rhododendrons, and camellias but there are many other species that contribute to this place’s unique character.
Each season brings new flowerings. Have a look at the Isabella Plantation website to discover the “Monthly Plant Diary”, which will help you plan your visit according to your liking.
Many scientists and plant collectors have contributed to the current beauty of the Isabella Plantation, which is environment-friendly managed. Biodiversity is also well-protected.
An enchanting walk whatever the season
We chose to come to the Isabella Plantation in Spring, but each season brings new treasures and the place offers many different sceneries that will satisfy everyone’s curiosity.
The ponds, streams, and glades – nature really shows off here. Whether you’re walking by the water or chilling in the quiet spots, it’s just pure beauty.
I highly recommend these beautiful gardens to nature lovers and families – kids will have a blast climbing trees, collecting sticks, and searching for insects!
Richmond is full of charm, with Richmond Park of course, and the town itself offering great places to eat (I mentioned the Petersham Nurseries in a previous post, it’s a paradise) … and even spots to shop!
