It is the kind of evening you can not forget… Since The Sketch last year, I hadn’t had such a good impression on a restaurant. There it is: Galvin at Windows is an award-winning Michelin-starred restaurant located on the 28th floor of the London Hilton Park Lane, in Mayfair. Its interior design evoking the 1930s and its attentive staff will definitely meet everyone’s expectations!
Refined Cuisine
“Chef Patron Chris Galvin and his team have created seasonally inspired menus based around modern French haute cuisine“.
We had found a great deal at Groupon and thus enjoyed a 5-courses set menu prepared by Head Chef Joo Won. Everything was quite innovative, either in the search for new flavors or in the way to create original textures.
I still remember the fresh flavors and tenderness of the “cured salmon, horseradish cream, pickles and seaweed cracker” as a starter, or the following dish: the “fillet of mackerel, curried lentils, turnip tops & harissa”: a refined cuisine that turns common vegetables and fish into a choice delicacy.
I was also very impressed by the melt-in-the-mouth texture of the meat dish, which always comes back in my head! This “Beef Bourguignon” was a true delight, and even the most demanding gourmet would fall for it !
The dessert was as astonishing as the other dishes. We had a “chocolate fondant with a salted caramel ganache & a butterscotch ice cream”. The fondant was made to perfection and although I am not a big fan of the butterscotch flavor, I have to admit this ice cream went down pretty well! This proves that Galvin at Windows has got something for everyone’s tastebuds…
Amazing staff
The service was excellent: the staff were very welcoming and attentive throughout the evening, without being intrusive or showing ostentatious manners, which made us feel very comfortable. We also had no waiting-time between the dishes, which we appreciated a lot.
Stunning views
Then, as its name suggests, Galvin at Windows is a rooftop where you can enjoy great 360º views over London.
Unfortunately we did not sit next to the windows, but took the time at the end of our lunch to admire the breathtaking view over the iconic sites of the capital.
Stylish bar
10° at Galvin at Windows is named after the golden hour when the setting sun creates a dusky glow over the city of London.
We had no time to enjoy a drink at the bar that day, but I loved the atmosphere there …
Everything on the menu happens to be my taste: signature cocktails and vintage Champagnes (I will leave the “extensive whisky collection” to my connoisseur husband).
If you are willing to experience fine cuisine, this review should definitely tempt your curiosity. If you are looking for an excellent value for money, go and see Groupon’s offers. And if you are just tempted by the stunning view and awesome drinks, then head to the bar …
