Dorothee is one of these entrepreneurs who got inspired -in a very good way- by Covid19. At the beginning of the pandemic she used her talent as a seamstress to make (free) masks that would help some working teams cope with the new context.
The success of her products and her passion for ethical brands and concepts made her realise she could start a responsible business with these masks. And that’s great news for everyone!!
Today, DOYOUSPEAKLONDON presents you a London-based ethical brand creating trendy masks!
ByDorothée: London ethical brand
Dorothée creates masks available in various fabrics and sizes (large, smaller and very small for kids) but most importantly she is part of a community of small business-owners committed to offering socially and environmentally responsible activities.
All masks are washable (and dryer-friendly) and reusable. They’ve been designed to last 🙂
They are made with a minimum 50% of recycled fabric with removable filter. This is my favourite part of the story: half of each mask had a previous life related to Dorothee’s past. In particular, this expatriate for many years lived in Africa (Senegal, Cameroon) from where she brought back many colourful fabrics that are now used as lining material (check your own mask, there might be an exotic story behind it).
ByDorothée also supports two charities: Age UK Hammersmith and Fulham and World Land Trust by giving them 25% of the sales revenues.
Is there any reason not to support such a great initiative??
Actually there are even more reasons to tempt you …
Masks made with love to last
All masks are breathable, soft and resistant at the same time. They are made of 3 layers: 2 layers of fabric (the inside layer is 100% cotton recycled, the outside layer is 100% cotton or linen) and a removable filter squeezed in he middle.
The maximum quality to protect you against Covid19!
Dorothée wanted to create a design that satisfies everyone by:
1/ offering 3 different sizes from children to adults
2/ selecting various fabric designs (either plain or with patterns) to suit all ages and fashion desires (her bandanas masks are very trendy at the moment!).
3/ proposing different shapes (with folded fabric or not) and an adequate cut for a maximum comfort (and adjustable loops).
Brand orientations – Be part of it!
Dorothée’s biggest aspiration is to satisfy all needs, which leads to potential few orientations for the brand.
Firstly, Dorothée gives the opportunity for everyone to bring their own fabric and get a bespoke mask! There’s a high satisfaction knowing you could use a much beloved fabric to create your own fashionable mask, isn’t it?
Secondly, Dorothée is thinking about expanding the range of products she can offer. Stay tuned for more information!
Lastly, this ethical business rely on sustainability: recycling old clothes to create masks that will last..until a new use. Maybe. Ultimately.
So far, Dorothée mainly used her own fabrics, but we could think of a global solidarity drive, where all unwanted clothes and various fabrics could be sent to her to support her business?
Feel free to contact her and see what can be done in that sense.
Together. We all earn more. Don’t we?
Dorothée sells via the online marketplace Etsy. Go and see her face masks, contact her, spread the word. It’s all yours now.
