2016 is already here, and on a personal level we all have in mind the new resolutions we will have difficulties to stick to this year… But also, on the collective level, 2016 brings new culture events that will put London as the best place to be this year !
There is an event I personally look forward to see which is called “London Lumiere” and will take place next 14-17 January. As mentioned in the visitlondon website, the show is “Produced by Artichoke and supported by the Mayor of London, [and] for four evenings in January a host of international artists will illuminate the city”. I particularly recommend this kind of event that always amazed the kid in all of us. I also can’t help but refer to the “Festival of lights” that has taken place in France in Lyon since 1889, making this city the “world’s principal event for creative light displays”… Now I am being nostalgic !
Let’s move to other great London events to come this year: the Calder exhibition at the Tate Modern (which will be reviewed in another post later on, as many of the forthcoming events), the Painting the modern garden:Monet to Matisse exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, Birth of the space age at the Science Museum, which also presents this year the Leonardo Da Vinci genius in a promising exhibition that describes the Master as an engineer and inventor… And of course, you can always count on the Saatchi Gallery to organise a subversive exhibition on the Stones next spring…!
