This must be my favorite place in London to admire paintings or drawings. The Courtauld Gallery is located at Somerset House and presents an amazing collection of world-famous masterpieces, stretching from the early Renaissance into the 20th century. The collection is “the result of a series of gifts and bequests by some of the leading collectors of the 19th and 20th centuries, including Samuel Courtauld”. I visit the gallery at least twice a year to enjoy this beautiful place and stunning collection. Let me show you my best discoveries at the Courtauld Gallery…

Delacroix at the National Gallery
Delacroix has always been a great painter to me. This French romantic artist was fond of bright colours and energetic brushstrokes. His opposition to Ingres is well-known and justified as Ingres put more emphasis on the drawing and adopted a neoclassical style, whereas Delacroix stressed on colours and movement in his paintings. Delacroix marked a break with the past techniques and styles.
