In the past bars of soap have often been overlooked in favour of fancy shower gels or sleek liquid soaps. Things are changing today and soap bars are making a triumphal come-back. It seems that people want to avoid plastic bottles filled with complicated (and sometimes unhealthy) formulas.
Seizing the new opportunities provided by this new trend Jamie created The Soapy Co., a brand producing soap bars combining a hand-made process, an artistic vision, an eco-friendly commitment. All in one soap bar. Amazing, right?
Today, DOYOUSPEAKLONDON introduces you to The Soapy Co., offering “naturally-derived, handmade eco cosmetics” in the UK.
“Humble beginnings to grand ambitions”
The initial idea of creating Soapy Co came up to Jamie in late 2019. It resulted from several desires: creating something useful, in a creative way and with a strong commitment to the environment.
After “following lots of soap making accounts on Instagram, and (without realising) gathering creative inspiration from them”, Jamie decided to take the jump, launch his own brand and make his own soap bars! As a passionate person, he never looked back and followed his intuitions…
Jamie’s biggest ambition for the Soapy Co is “to make a discernible difference in attitude that people have towards buying and using skincare products”. He would like his brand to be defined as the best alternative with “handmade, beautiful and environmentally conscious products”.
Given the experience I had of his products, he might well succeed in this 🙂
Soap bars with outstanding quality
The first key to success in any business with high quality standards is to choose the best ingredients.
Behind the expression “naturally-derived eco cosmetics” (which Jamie defines as his mantra) The Soapy Co refers to the use of natural ingredients that “need to undergo some distillation (essential oil), extraction or purification in order to meet the regulatory requirements”.
The Soapy Co “sources its ingredients very carefully and only work with suppliers who have a reputation for providing the highest-quality ingredients that fit the brand’s eco-friendly ethos”.
The result in the quality of the soap bars is stunning: in addition to the beautiful and delicate aspect of the soap bars, the smell is extraordinarily rich and fresh (I mean, you really know what flavour is inside the soap just smelling it).
I know soap bars might have had a bad reputation in the past for making the skin feel tight and dry, but not these ones! They foam lightly and create a sort of velvety texture on the skin and you definitely feel a moisturising effect on your hands.
Impressive quality with immediate effects!
It seems almost all senses (even if tempting, don’t try to eat those bars!) are involved when using The Soapy Co soaps and I can’t hide the pleasure I had trying them!
Small batches to preserve creativity
Jamie has undoubtedly an artistic flair! The soap bars he creates present an aesthetic design, because he prioritises small batches in order to allow some creativity in the process of soap-making.
This is a justifiable asset to make soaps that are not going to look like the next one. Isn’t it indeed what most customers are after, a unique product that is different from the rest?
This is also how brands stand out of the crowd and mark their difference – especially in this now very competitive soap market…
Eco-friendly ethos
The Soapy Co’s main concern is that “people should be making the switch back to the bar soaps instead of falling into the temptation of products with quick, easy, disposable plastic packaging”. Jamie added :”never will you see any plastic products in The Soapy Co range, and it will stay this way”.
Everything in the Soapy Co range is easily recycled! This was Jamie’s biggest source of stress in creating his business because he wanted to guarantee 100% recycled and recyclable materials for his products.
We all need to buy responsibly, why not start now?
